Here lies the beauty of solid wood furniture. It can be transformed to fit your style and needs over and over through the years. Furniture is like cats, it’s got 9 lives, and this cutie is on its third.
I wish I had a true “before” picture of this set in all its original glory. The before picture you see is actually the after picture in its former life…are you following me?
This gem started out as a well loved, deeply scratched, sticker wearing, stained maple desk with chippendale hardware. I was in search of a desk for my daughter’s room as a “make up” desk, and this fit the bill. So, the first time I refinished the set it went from a 70’s abused over-loved desk to a creamy white make up desk. Years and layers of foundation and hairspray later, this desk was in need of a new life.
One of my favorite places for inspiration is in my local store’s mis-tint paint pile. You never know what colors you might find. I wanted to shake it up a little and refinish this set in something bright, bold, and unexpected. This sassy color has since become my favorite go to orange.
The icing on the cake after adding the pop of color was new oil rubbed bronze hardware and a fun print fabric for the seat. Like a great shade of lipstick, go bold or go home:)
Have you ever found your favorite color in the mis-tint aisle?
